Citizens Corner

The Prince William Clean Community Council is a partner in the local community striving to make Prince William County a clean place to live, work and play.  However the Council is only as strong as its volunteers and concerned citizens who demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship.

It is the responsibility of each citizen to take responsibility for the condition of Prince William County.  Click on the links to the left and check out the ideas below to find out how you can get involved in effecting change in your neighborhood.

TRASH TIPS

Use a combination of trash bags and cans.  Trans bags should always be placed within a covered trash cans for proper trash preparation.  Remember to recylce and reuse as much as possible.

Cover cans and tie bags securely.

A tablespoon of ammonia will discourage animals from rummaging through trash.

Use cans and bags that can handle the weight of debris.  Limit the weight so that they can be lifted.

Always place trash out as close to expected collection times as possible and remove emptied cans quickly.

Cardboard boxes fall apart when dampened by moisture and should not be use as receptacles.  If not recycled, boxes should be broken down and tied together.

Tree limbs and brush should be cut into 4' lengths and tied into bundles.  Contact your hauler to inquire about yard waste pick up days.  (A list of haulers is provided on this site).

Dispose of home and auto waste hazards at the Hazardous Waster Facility at the landfill.

Clean up after your pet.

When out walking, pick up smaller pieces of litter or consider adopting your walk area.

When out walking, hold onto trash until you reach a trash receptacle.

Report areas where people have illegally dumped larger pieces of litter or debris. 703-792-6666
