Education
Audience
The Council's educational programs are targeted toward daycare, pre-school, elementary, middle and high school students in Prince William County. The programs are offered as a free service to all educators, librarians and day care providers in Prince William County.
Services
Storytelling
In an effort to educate children about the environment and to foster a love of reading the Council offers storytelling services for daycares and elementary schools (pre-kindergarten- second grade).
Libraries/Specialty Groups
The Council offers a litter prevention program to libraries and specialty groups with priority given to the Prince William County Library System and the Office on Youth. Specialty groups can include but are not limited to Ecology Clubs, Girl/Boy Scouts, and 4-H Clubs.
Adopt-A-School
This program engages children in litter prevention education and volunteer opportunities. Participating schools agree to partner with the Council for a period of one traditional school year. Under the supervision of an approved advisor, students agree to clean the exterior of the school and the surrounding grounds. The Council provides cleaning supplies and a sign for the partnering school.
Environmental Educator Network
Using this resource environmental educators are able to e-mail the Council to request resources and information. The Council also informs members about opportunities such as field trips, grants and volunteer openings.
