Adopt-A-Spot Program

The Adopt-A-Spot program encourages individuals and groups to take responsibility for litter prevention and property maintenance in Prince William County.  Volunteers agree to keep a designated area, other than a highway, cleared of litter; scheduling one clean-up per month (March – November).

Volunteers are provided with materials to help them keep their adopted spots clean and have the option to have a sign furnished bearing their name installed in the general area of their adopted spot. Click this link to download a request for supplies.

Benefits for Businesses (churches, and other organizations)!

Are you a business owner, church or other organization whose property contains storm drains? If so, you may be eligible for up to 30% off of your storm water fees. For more information click here.

Adoptable locations include: parks, vacant lots, parking lots, walkways, median strips, school campuses, public grounds, or other areas prone to litter.  We will coordinate, review and approve proposed area(s) of adoption in Prince William County. Click the link to download the Adopt-A-Spot Agreement.

Each adopting group must file an activity report monthly detailing the number of people involved, including the number of bags of litter picked up, participants and hours worked.  Click the link to download the Reporting Form.

Benefits of participation include:

• Service requirements fit into most schedules
• Service does not require a specific skill set
• Orientation desirable but not necessary
• Service can be done individually or as a group
• Service is youth friendly
